Cool camping - cool campsite
“Imagine the Ritz in a tent and you’ve got Jollydays!”

Cool camping
Camping in the Great British outdoors - the romance of getting back to nature, breathtaking countryside, songs around the campfire, starlit walks, and jolly japes on endless sunny days! The reality however is often very different, soul destroying tinned or dehydrated meat, deflating airbeds, damp sleeping bags and permafrost on your toes – in summer! Well now there’s an alternative... Welcome to Jollydays, where we believe there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate camping facilities. Out go nylon sleeping bags and in come four poster beds, chandeliers and sofas by the fire.
Glamping, cool camping, posh camping - call it what you will, this is Jollydays luxury camping here in North Yorkshire’s wonderful countryside. Glamping was derived for the festival market at outrageous prices - here is a version for everyone at incredible value for money.
Cool camping or "Glamping" is a trend that's emerged largely from our unique British festival culture, culminating in 24 hour festivals such as the The Magic Lounge About. It’s a million miles from the camping we once knew. Glampers love the freedom of getting back to nature, going off grid and being eco, but are unwilling to compromise on style and comfort. The glamper can be found curled up on a mountain of sheepskin and cushions in a flame-filled white tent. It’s a state of mind not a state of wallet. They’ll be nibbling on local delicacies whilst the bottle of fizz is cooling in the neighbouring stream.
“Nostalgia with mod cons”

Our camp has no permanent structures, and other than the odd wooden pole (and the buried bio digester dealing with effluent off-grid) nothing is attached into the ground, ensuring we tread lightly. We have 10 tents at present within the beautiful 200 acre wood: 5 tented lodges and 5 bell tents. Book and turn up for a night, a few days, a week or longer, just bring suitable clothes and that’s it! No other packing. No hassle and set up, just turn up.
For Everyone
Our camp attracts many people, couples, families, reunions, walkers, non campers, and young and old. If you just want to escape and get away from it all, have a reunion or celebrate a special event (or just life), Jollydays offers all this in a beautiful location. Experience nature in all her seasons as the camp is open most of the year. We use minimal electricity and an increasing proportion of our energy usage is sustainable. We do however use LPG gas to heat water (which is more energy efficient than electricity). Spent water is sent to a bio digester and then released into the ground on site.
Jollydays is family owned and run. Carolyn and Christian Van Outersterp (trained fashion designer and landscape architect respectively) and their four children live close by and are often on site overnight. They have run several businesses before including a restaurant and have created a unique camping experience. From their own experiences they have created a wonderful and unique comfortable camping experience. Christian loves camping and Carolyn has hated it, thus it needed to be very comfortable for "non campers". Dehydrated food is out and good local food is in. They have four young children and noticed that most holidays are based for families of four, so they created a tent for up to six.
They wanted pricing simple and to include the things that people would use, but not the things that some people wouldn’t want. After creating CVO Fire, British made modern and efficient fires, and award-winning central London showroom and restaurant CVO Firevault, and winning a string of awards including the coveted Prince of Wales Medal from HRH, they retreated back to country life 2 years ago. Jollydays is the culmination of a 15-year dream to combine a love of camping and comfortable and chic hotels. Jollydays is an extension of their simplified lifestyle, beautiful surroundings, great food, and socialising around a roaring log fire. Jollydays restorative breaks are designed to allow you to re-experience the joys of childhood, and for kids it’s heaven on earth, even for those addicted to their Playstations.
